The problem (eating issues etc) is NOT the problem,
It is a SYMPTOM of the problem
So, what is the problem?
Among many survivors there are common themes of addictive and self-harming behaviours, as well as issues with intimacy and relationships.
Some of the presenting issues might include:
- around the use of alcohol and/or drugs
- related to food
- obsessive behaviours (OCD etc)
- difficulties with sexual intimacy
- relationships, including parenting
- anger related
These are coping strategies that, for some, have become destructive behaviours and might therefore need to be acknowledged as part of the healing process; as new and healthier ways of being are adopted.
